COVID-19 Update: Return to Train & Play

    PROVINCIAL SOCCER LEAGUE

Due to COVID-19, Canada Soccer has suspended all soccer activities. Remaining PSL evaluations have been postponed until a later date. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

    What is PSL?

The Provincial Soccer League (PSL) is a league that is organized by the Saskatchewan Soccer Association. It operates in the competitive stream of the Canadian Soccer Association player pathway, and run during the outdoor season.

The provincial winners of the U15 and U17 leagues will go on to represent Saskatchewan at the Canada Club Soccer Nationals in October.

Zone boundaries are in effect for the 2020 PSL season. If you would like to play with Hollandia United and do not live in Hollandia, SUSC, or another partners zone boundaries, you will need to complete the Permission to Play Out of Zone form and bring it to your evaluation. Valley players are bound by the extended zone boundaries.

    Partnerships

Hollandia United is run as a partnership between Hollandia Soccer Club and Saskatoon United Soccer Club. This season, in order to ensure a fun and competitive environment for all our teams, additional partnerships have been made for certain age groups:

Under 15 Boys - Hollandia United will also be partnering with Aurora Soccer Club under the name Aurora United

Hollandia United will not be offering PSL for Under 17 Boys or Under 17 Girls this season.

To simplify registration, each age group will have a host zone responsible for all registrations and payments.

    Format

The format for the 2020 season is still being finalized. More information to come.

    Evaluations

Due to COVID-19, Canada Soccer has suspended all soccer activities. Remaining PSL evaluations have been postponed until a later date. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

Players interested in evaluating for a Hollandia United PSL team will need to register and pay a $20 non-refundable evaluation fee. Players are to arrive 30 minutes early for their evaluation. Registration for evaluations is now closed.

Evaluations will be run by representatives from all zones/clubs involved for the particular age group.

These evaluations are not the same as zone evaluations. Everyone that evaluates will not be ensured a spot on the team. Rosters for PSL can be up to 18 players. If a player has not been selected for the PSL team in their home zone, and they want an opportunity to play in this league, they may attempt to secure a spot on the PSL team of another zone and seek a zone transfer.

Please note - if you register for PSL evaluations, it is expected that you are prepared to accept a spot on the roster if it is offered to you. Transfer requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the team's organizing group.

    Frequently Asked Questions

I do not reside in the zone boundaries for a Hollandia United (or partner) team and would like to play with you - how do I request a transfer?

Permission to Play Out of Zone is handled in the same manner as Saskatoon leagues. You must request a transfer from your home zone, submit the form to the SYSI office, and bring a copy of the completed transfer to Hollandia United (or partner team) evaluations. You will be expected to attend evaluations for both teams. Please note that if you are offered a place on your home zone's team, you may be denied the transfer.

The desired zone on the PTPOZ form will be the host zone for the team (Hollandia Soccer Club for U13 Boys, U13 Girls, & U15 Girls/Aurora Soccer Club for U15 Boys).

Please see this information on the PTPOZ process.

I wish to play for a non-Hollandia United (or partner) team hosted by another zone - how do I request a transfer to that zone?

Permission to Play Out of Zone is handled in the same manner as Saskatoon leagues. You must request a transfer from your home zone (zone of residence) and submit the form to the SYSI office. Other zones may also request that you bring a copy of the form to their evaluations. You will be expected to attend evaluations for both teams. Transfer requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Please see this information on the PTPOZ process.

If a player is not selected to a PSL team, can they be permitted for some games?

For players that are not accepted on the PSL roster, if they are registered in local leagues they may be called up by a PSL team hosted by their zone for a maximum of two games. If further call-ups are required by a player, they must then transfer to the PSL team and will no longer be eligible for local league play. If a PSL host zone requires a player due to injury or for other reasons, they have to apply to SYSI who will then facilitate securing a suitable replacement.

    What are the fees?

Players interested in PSL will pay $20 non-refundable evaluation fee. Based on previous years, we anticipate the PSL Registration fee will be approximately $350-$400. Additional team fees and/or fundraising will be required, and families will be responsible for the cost of travel to away games.

If you were successful in being placed on a PSL team, you will be emailed the registration link for PSL teams, and you will pay the registration fees at that time.

    Is there a volunteer deposit?

No. There will be no volunteer requirement for Hollandia United PSL.

    What are the training expectations?

Successful PSL players are not required to attend academy training, but may continue to do so. Regardless of any academy commitments, players are expected to display the highest level of commitment to their PSL team, with no or very few absences from training and games.

    When will teams be released?

Startup for the 2020 PSL season is currently postponed. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

    Who are the coaches?

The head coaches are not named yet, but will be announced on our websites once confirmed. All head coaches for the PSL will have a minimum of a C license, and assistant coaches will have a minimum of Soccer for Life.

Will Under 13 players be able to play in the Saskatoon league?

Yes - Under 13 players will be permitted to play in the Saskatoon league as well as the PSL league. More information on this to follow.
